Yet another new project.

I started a new baby blanket. I have about four projects in progress. I find I get bored with one thing after a few days and do better if I have something else to switch to. The pattern is here.

And here is my version, with better colors than in the original pattern (click for a better look):

Babette Blanket

This is the coolest pattern ever. It's from Interweave Crochet, Spring 2006. You can buy the pattern here. The best thing about it is that it's so easy to rearrange if you want to make it bigger or smaller. I decided to go with really bright colors:



I've added a few more colors since then. Here is what I have so far:

Mr Swirly Baby Blanket, 2009

They are having a United Way craft fair fundraiser at my work this summer. I've never done any kind of craft fair so I figured it might be a good way to give it a shot, being a fundraiser and limited to just my company.

I'm a fairly slow crocheter so I figure I'll start with smaller things, scarves and baby blankets.

This is the first baby blanket I'm trying. The squares are from a book called "Beyond the Square Crochet Motifs" by Edie Eckman. I named the blanket Mr Swirly because the blocks look a little swirly to me. The plan is to arrange the colors in rings around the multicolored square in the middle.

Lattice Scarf, 2009

Lattice Mesh Scarf for a coworker's daughter, in Lion Brand Homespun in Windsor. You'll need to be a Ravelry member to get to that pattern. But really it's just alternating front and back post double crochet to give a lot of texture. It feels very soft and squishy and stretchy. I was going to add a border but I kind of liked the way the edges look a little ruffled.

Curly Scarf

Made from Paton's Curly Q pattern with Joann Traditions Yarn in Chocolate Raspberry. The yarn was horrible. Very pretty but very very irritating to work with. It kept bunching up behind my hook and I'd have to stop and smooth it out. The black inner core of the thread pokes through all over, and there were multiple places throughout the skein where the yarn had been knotted together. The pattern is great though, and pretty easy. It'd be a good one to use with yarn that isn't so temperamental.

Puffy Scarf

Christmas 2008 gift to a coworker. Made (and slightly modified) from this pattern. Uses Lion Brand Homespun yarn in Baroque.

Estrella

My first completed beaded doll. She took months to finish, mostly because I don't work that fast.

First scarf, made for my boss. Just a simple single crochet stitch and some tassles, using Lion Brand Homespun yarn in Tudor. She seems to like it.

Jasper Cuff, 2006

I made a mistake on this one and had to take it apart, unfortunately (shouldn't be able to see the thread). I loved it, it was very heavy and felt good. One of these days I'm going to redo it.

Probably my favorite jewelry creation. I love the colors, especially.

Lots of crystals in a right angle weave. I have horrible fears that this probably fell apart. No one has said so, but it never felt very substantial to me. Still, it's very sparkly and pretty.

My first experiment with polymer clay. I don't know.I guess it's alright. I should have worked with colors I like better.

Just something I quickly put together for myself. I liked it a lot, but of course the magnetic clasp isn't very strong. It caught on something in my car and fell off and I haven't been able to find it since.

First Beads

My very first bead project. I'd really love it except that there's a small chip in the center bead, which I didn't notice when putting it together but is of course fully visible in the photo. Oh well. Not bad for a first time.
